After two months of hibernation, the blog has reawakened!

I hope you all had a fantastic winter....it never felt like winter here because the grass was always green, you could always find at least one little flower blooming in a garden somewhere and the two mornings which presented us with about half an inch of slush on the ground were no more than a winter teaser. Instead we got unusually large amounts of rain which even had the locals wondering what the heavens are up to. Optimistically speaking, this was the perfect reason to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and a book.

James and I have been house/dog sitting most of the time since we arrived in Brittany two months ago so below are some photographic impressions of our stay beautiful Brittany.

 Morlaix harbour below.

Photogenic oak trees line the edges of all fields.

Further down the road, a sleepy cottage waiting for the stirring of its inhabitants

 Spooky moments in the woods

View of a stylish building peeking out from behind a boulder and an oak tree.

Gorgeous walking trail along a boulder strewn valley. There are no mountains near by where the heck did these massive... MASSIVE boulders come from?

Happy New Year!!

One of our house sitting houses. My room top far left.

Yay sunshine! Typical Brittany landscape near James' parents' house. There is a nice path  where we often go for walks which cuts diagonally across the hillside shown in the photo.

Our current house sitting house. It is an old, uninsulated Breton stone house, difficult to heat but very nice to live in, as long as you keep a few extra blankets close by.

Lovely living room. Once the fire is burning, it gets quite cozy.

Glimpse of the street just down the road.
Early morning view out of the upstairs bathroom window.

Our neighbour's door. Pretty isn't it?

Our friends Andy and Sue took us on a little road trip to Morlaix for Chinese food and then up to historic up to Roscoff on the north coast. Below is an old cannon from the 1800's.

Roscoff harbour.

More gnarly oak trees. They have so much character.

A horse waiting in front of a house just off the village square.

Cute stone houses we came across on one of our exploration walks.

Small detour to the town park on one of our shopping trips.

These houses are just past the church pictured in the image above. So nice!

Three impressions from my jogging route.

On a nice day, we finally tackled our bike maintenance task, including replacing a very worn middle chain ring. Not bad for 12,000 km.

Tinckering in the sunshine, a truly uplifting experience. Back on the road again soon!

Sapphire, James' English Setter, is looking spry despite his 12 years of age. A few days ago we took him to one of his favourite woods for a walk, coupled with an unofficial photo shoot. Here are a few of those pics for you dog lovers.

I will conclude this post with another picture of an inviting cottage I photographed on my run yesterday.

Hope you enjoyed this quick two-months summary. Cheerios, until next time.
