March 8 - 9 Across France in 14 Days - Brittany to Switzerland part2

It was a gorgeous sunny day when we arrived at Jacky and Brigitte's place. They bought an old mill several years ago and spent endless hours renovating it to its current state. Lots of work still needs to be done but it is just gorgeous now.

James and I got to stay in the Petite Maison as they called it. It is a small portion of a barn which they converted into a cute two bedroom apartment. It was lovely!!!

Some pictures from inside the main house. I must say they have great taste and the 4.5 years of renovation, which they did mostly themselves with some friends, surely paid off.

Mmmm beef tongue with pickles on a creamy meat sauce....DELICIOUS! Well done Brigitte!

Upon close inspection, I discovered a fossilized sea shell in one of the stones of the garage wall.

One of Jacky's friends, Bernard, is a crazy bike fanatic and collector. He has an incredible collection of full size as well as model bicycles. We were invited over to his house to look at his collection which was impressive and humorous.
THANK YOU BERNARD FOR THE THREE LITTLE BICYCLE SOUVENIRS. WE REALLY ENJOY THEM!

Jacky and Brigitte invited us to stay a second day, which we were happy to accept because the two of them were so fun to hang out with and the Petite Maison was too cute to leave after just one night. Besides, the weather was rather wet so we were happy to be under cover for an extra day.
They are restoring a gipsy wagon for themselves to travel with their horses. We were able to give them a hand sanding doors and window frames for a few hours. Great fun!

In the evening got a traditional French meal with galettes and crepes.  This picture sequence shows Brigitte making a galette.
A galette is a savory version of what we normally call "crepes" in Canada. The batter is made with buckwheat flour, water and a bit of salt. The photos show the rest of the procedure. Highly recommended!!!!!! Delicious!

Fog hides the fields from view on the morning of our departure.

IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN/ MEET YOU, JACKY AND BRIGITTE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY AND HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH YOUR GIPSY WAGON!
