Our first night after leaving Montreal we got to stay in a kind man`s maple sugar shack. He allowed us to make a fire in the wood stove so we took that chance and baked a new supply of flat bread with the flour we had bought a while ago. Mmmmmm sooo good!
The sugar shack!
In the back of the sugar shack was all the equipment for making Maple Syrup production. Lots of propane burners and huge pots.
Highway 138 passes through countless villages along the St. Lawrence River where we came across the most inviting, cute and beautiful houses.
Lac Saint Pierre...a super wide section of the St. Lawrence.
More fall colours and Quebec scenery
Just outside of Quebec city we asked at a house whether we could camp in their back yard. It was a chilly evening so Candede and Marcel invited us in for a hot cup of tea which turned into a full dinner followed by the offer to sleep on the hide-a-bed in the living room. This was our first time we got invited inside in this province so we were asked lots of questions about our trip. Luckily James speaks fairly good French so the communication worked much better than expected. I got a bit nervous when James went to take a shower because my little bit of French is so rusty that I was afraid I would end up sitting at the table with our kind hosts and suffer through an awkward silence until James returned. But lo and behold, we had a great time. Most sentences were very point form but I was amazed how well we were able to exchange stories and ideas.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY!!!! IT WAS GREAT TO MEET YOU!!
MERCI BEAUCOUP!
