May 22-24 Detour to Lussier Hotsprings

Overall this was about a 200 km detour which took three days. Despite the strong sulfur smell, the trip was well worth in and a real treat. The hotsprings are located right next to a cold river so when things get to toasty in the pool, you only need to hop to the other side of the rock wall and enjoy a super refreshing, literally breathtaking cold water dip.

The folks you meet at the hotsprings are always of a diverse variety. Clearly, we hit a good group. Even the puppy seemed to enjoy it.

Stealth camp on a deactivated logging road. Fantastic spot!
Gourmet breakfast: curry-scrambled eggs with cheese and lettuce in a burger bun. Mmmmm!
That is what a lazy day looks like. Action wise it is as follows: wake up, get up, eat breakfast, have a nap, get a snack, have another nap, one more snack etc. and finally another dip in the hotsprings.
Second night near the hotsprings. This time with a great view of the mountains.
It rained last night so the 16km to the highway got a bit muddy.
Back on the highway after several hours of cycling, we came across a bunch of dudes waving at us. We were not going to stop but they asked if we wanted some food and hot chocolate. FOOD! Cannot say no to that. Turns out that these fellows are striking railway workers. Various businesses supported them by sending food to the picket lines and we got to benefit greatly from that. Thanks guys! Was great chatting with you and good luck! (note their ingenious wood stove made of a washing machine drum and a lawn mower base!)
