April 26 - 29 High Class "Camping"

One of James' friend's mother Dina lives near Lignano and eventhough it was not exactly along our route, we devided to pay her a visit. First we were disappointed because we found her house quite uninhabited. Did she move?
Luckily we found her at her office and learned that she temporarily had been  living in an apartment for the last few months.
We had only planned on a short visit but she and her secretary Gianna encouraged us to stay for a few days. Since there was no room for us at her apartment, and since she would not have us camp in the untended yard of her other house, she instead handed us the key to a vacation home, which she is in charge of through her tourism agency. WHAT!!!!!!
It had been a long, tiring day, we had been ready to sneak on the patio of a closed down restaurant up the street for the night, but instead we end up in a lovely house with a view over the marina! All we could think was that this was a real gift from heaven. Our own place, real beds, running water (hot and cold!), kitchen, comfy couches...

We truly felt like royalty for these days. Dina even invited us out for pizza twice, each time followed by tartufo for dessert. On the last day she even insisted on a second round of tartufo. How could we say no to such a delicious offer.

Tartufo is an ice cream dessert that can come in various styles. Ours was a large ball of compact chocolate and vanilla ice cream swirled together, rolled in cocoa powder, served in a bowl with about two shots of Grand Marnier poured over top. Mmmmmm this is so on our favourites list now!!!

THANK YOU LADIES FOR THE WONDERFUL THREE DAYS AND ALL THE PIZZA. WE ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF IT!
