Location: Xian, China
Although there were some "touristy" sights around town, we were mostly interested in just wandering the streets and observing everyday Chinese life in this city. A stroll through the Muslim market brought back memories of lively Kashgar. We found Chinese people to be surprisingly playful. When walking through a public park it is not uncommon to come past a group of usually older people freely dancing to some upbeat Chinese music. A little ways down the road there would be a choir performing (or rehearsing) beautiful traditional songs. What a heartwarming difference from Tashkent's manicured, lifeless city parks.
