One thing that really stood out on our strolls through the streets were the convolutions of electric cables strung along the streets, through trees, draped over walls and tied up in big coils. An electrician's night mare.
One night we made the effort to go see the Big Goose Pagoda, one of the attractions in town. It was very pretty the way it was all lit up at night. The colourful Drum/Bell tower is another attraction we came past several times. Beautiful architecture with lovely attention to detail and decoration.
At the muslim market we found some Chinese army hats for 5 dollars each for the cold riding days and chilly camping nights on our way to Beijing.
