Nov. 22-28 Xian...food

We ended up spending six days inu Xian. The Shuyuan Hostel, located right next to the south gate inside the old city walls was a great place to relax (photo with the two stone lions out front). The morning we arrived we went in search for some nice noodles for a refreshing breakfast and found a restaurant serving a cold noodle salad which, in hind sight, was our most favorite dish in China (for only $1!). We ended up ordering it a total of 7 times during our stay in Xian. The day before our departure the waitress guided us to the door with tears in her eyes. So sweet.

In the small streets behind the hostel we found a tiny dumpling and noodle place where we ended up going for dinner most nights ($1 for a big plate full!). It felt so good to be "at home" for a bit and have people recognize and greet us after we had eaten at the same place several times.
