Since the willow sticks, which we had been using as tent poles all the way from Uzbekistan to China, could not come on the airplane with us, we had to find new tent poles for this last leg of our trip.
I had done a little research on tent pole replacements but upon requesting my friend Tim's advice in the matter he offered to send his tent poles to LA for us to use. Our Eureka Mountain Breeze 2 person tent has almost the same dimensions as his 2 person MSR Hubba Hubba so we agreed to give it a try. Our original tent poles had two cross bars on the top and the Hubba Hubba poles only one cross bar so I had kept one of the two short willow sticks to serve as the second cross bar (and as a souvenir of our tent pole adventure). Besides, how many people in Canada can pride themselves in being the owner of an Uzbek willow stick that had served as a tent pole along with 5 other willow sticks on a cycling trip across Central Asia and China. I am not saying that I am proud but I think the story is pretty cool and after the disaster of losing our original tent poles these willow sticks took on a very sentimental value, so I had to keep at least one of them.
The box with the Hubba Hubba poles was waiting for us when we arrived at Susan's place and with a few minor adjustments we were able to fit them to our tent!!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TIM AND MIRELLA!!!! WE HAVE A HOME AGAIN!
