Location: Ala-bel Pass 3175m, Kyrgyzstan
It was a beautiful, gentle ride up to Alabel pass but the descent was tough. Very steep (poor brakes) and so cold. Some clouds got bunched up in the narrow valley we descended into so we were in icy fog for a while. We had to stop multiple times to thaw our fingers out and jump around a bit to warm up. The descent seemed endless but it felt like a season rewind because with every kilometer it got notably warmer. The alpine landscape turned into a rugged canyon with pine trees followed by grassy slopes, colourful deciduous trees dotting the landscape and finally gentle, rolling hills with fields and pastures. Beautiful!
