Location: around the Toktogul Reservoir, Kyrgyzstan
It was beautiful riding through more of that misty landscape of fields, pastures and steep grassy hills. We had breakfast next to a small creek with donkeys grazing nearby. The following stretch of road was very upsy-downsy through the hills, a bit slow but the surface was good.
Other than grass there was not much here. One village. A few houses along the road, almost all of which were fish restaurants. We met Raz, a cyclist from England, who put us in touch with a Polish couch surfer couple in Jalal-Abad. It's so great to have some accommodation and running water to look forward to. THANKS RAZ!
Continued up the hill to the small pass south of the reservoir before Karaköl. Found a handful of coins on the ground...30 Com, enough for a pot of tea, yay!
In a small village we got to camp in a kind family's backyard. They even invited us in for tea, hot soup, bread and home made butter. What a treat. The old man was so sweet and we regretted not being able to have a real conversation with him. He surely would have had some stories to tell.
Like many houses in small villages here in Central Asia, this house had no runninh water. To get water the lady had to take her two buckets for a walk down to the river and then haul them back up. We are so spoiled in North America.
