June 21 - 23 Salmon, Idaho
On our way up Lost Trail Pass we ran out of water and stopped by a house beside the road to fill our bottles. Instead of a quick stop it turned into a full on lunch break. Our kind hosts (whose names I am ashamed to have forgotten) fed us delicious hot dogs and were overall kind and hospitable. Thanks you two. Enjoy your summer!
On top of the pass we met two touring cyclists from Bangladesh. They were on a Tandem Bike Friday!!! Good luck you guys!
Our destination for this leg of the trip was Salmon Idaho where we visited of James' friends Lou and Ama. Lou runs a Polartec clothing company called Foxwear out of his home. He makes excellent outdoor clothing of all kinds (also custom requests) with the same materials that top brands like Patagonia use but for much cheaper!!!! If you wanna check out his site, here it is http://www.foxwear.net/
Lou's wife Ama sews African clothing which she sells at farmers markets. Pants in the picture are for me. You will see them in upcoming posts. They are super comfy!!!
In the cooler eveing I went for a little walk in the hills around their house and came across many blooming cacty. So gorgeous!!!
On Saturday, James and I rolled into town and see what is happening. We came across a farmers market where we felt like we could perhaps make some money selling our photo cards with pics from our trip. We got permission from the manager and we did not even have to pay a stall fee because a lovely lady named Kathy who sells home made soaps invited us to share her stall with her.
She was such a blast and marketed our cards to everybody who came past her booth. It was so much fun. The reason why we decided to sell cards is to raise money to cover our grocery costs. Since food is our only expense aside from the odd bike part we can hopefully support and extend our trip for quite some time this way. Kathy and her husband then invited us for lunch at the Junk Yard Bistro which served anything but junk! THANK YOU SO MUCH KATHY for all your help. We hope to see you on our way back through Salmon in a few weeks :-)
