At 7, we met up with our host Salih who had just returned from a bike ride. He is a really lively, funny guy and laughs a lot. He and his wife Mehtap made us and the bikes feel very welcome. The bikes got to come up into the apartment with us where they got to stay in the spare bedroom with Sali's other bikes. It is so comforting knowing the bikes will be safe overnight.
This evening, Salih and Mehtap took us out for dinner at Köfteci Yusuf in Bursa. It can be called a "fast food" place that serves "slow food" at a super fast pace. This is primarily because they mainly serve Köfte, which are like hamburger patties, some call them meat balls. Roasted peppers, bread and a delicious red dip and Ayran were served on the side. So good! Love köfte! To top it all off, Salih ordered a Turkish dessert for us, cake soaked in sirup with a heap of ice cream on top. Delicious!
Back at their apartment we spent the evening looking at pictures and taking long exposure photos from their balcony. So fun.
SALIH AND MEHTAP, IT WAS SUCH A GREAT TIME WITH YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TRULY MAKING US FEEL RIGHT AT HOME. HOPEFULLY WE WILL MEET AGAIN SOME DAY!
