June 17- Balikesir

The closer we are getting to the coast, the more unbearable the humidity is becoming. Today was hot and muggy and we pulled over near a big guarded gate with some trees for a quick break. The security guard came out of his little hut and said we can sit on the bench next to the hut. The guard, Selim, turned out to be very nice. In true Turkish fashion he served us tea right away and even prepared us two sandwiches and a bowl of olives from his garden. The complex he was guarding was the Balikesir Geological Research Center. Selim spoke no English but one of the engineers, Erin, stopped by who we had a good chat with.

THANKS GUYS FOR THE WELCOME. WAS GREAT TO MEET YOU ALL!
