Left Güley and Erdal's at 6 to beat the heat. As we were riding through town, concentrating on the road infront of us, some one suddenly greeted us from the side of the road. It was Birshan (the lady with the new bike). She wore her nurses outfit since she was on night shift that night. She handed us a big shopping bag that she said is for us. It contained all kinds of breakfast items, bread, simit (still warm), dried plums etc. I could not believe it. Wow. I so would have loved to spend more time with her.
THANK YOU SO MUCH BIRSHAN. THAT WAS A VERY SUCCESSFUL SURPRISE! HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN SOMETIME.
The rest of the day led us through more olive plantations, to Akhisar, stopped at the historic church site Thyatira, which was really not that interesting, and then on to Lake Marmara. Bad road surface out of Soma. Large section beautifully resurfaced to Akisar. Road widening project in process towards Lake Marmara.
Spent the midday heat at a gas station where we opened our last bag of our favourite muesli from the LIDL store. Muesli is rare in Turkey and even then it is very expensive and loaded with sugar.
In the evening we found a quiet camping spot at the edge of a large olive grove. So beautiful and peaceful. Got really dehydrated today, head ache sore neck and swollen eyeballs. Not pleasant.
