June 30- to Denizli

It was a relatively short ride into Denizli. At the edge of town the police had set up a drug check road block. We were going to take a quick break by the gas station next to the road block but the cops were really cool and invited us over to sit at the little picknick table with them, drink CocaCola and eat grapes.
In town we tried to find our Warmshower contact's address but navigating a Turkish city can be a bit tricky. We pulled over infront of a cafe to check the map. The owner, his son and sister came out to see what we were doing. They were quite interested in our trip and then invited us inside for an ice cream.
THANKS GUYS FOR THE REFRESHING WELCOME TO DENIZLI.

It was so nice to arrive at our host Ali's mother's apartment and sit down on the couch. A nice change from the bike saddle. Ali's sister Isik and her two kids Zaynep and Fevzi were there too. Ali's mom, Müzeyyen, prepared a delicious lunch which was consumed Turkish style sitting on the floor with the "table cloth" draped over ones legs.

In the evening Ali took us to the big city park where hundreds of families were picknicking. Canadians go camping, Turks go picknicking. It is so popular here that instead of "No Trespassing" signs like we have in Canada, in Turkey they have "No Picknicking" signs.
The park also housed a small zoo which we visited.
The day was concluded by a late night barbeque in the park with Ali, his mom, two of Ali's friends and us. Yay Köfte and roasted peppers!
